In the English language we capitalize the Pronoun "I" which seemingly emphasizes the importance of self. However, the more i am consumed by my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ ("U") the more i am free,

Isaiah 55:2-3: Food Which Endures to Eternal Life (Hunger of a Soul)

"Why do you spend money for what is not bread,
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,
And let your soul delight itself in abundance.
Incline your ear, and come to Me.
Hear, and your soul shall live;” (Isaiah 55:2-3a)

"Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” (John 6:27)

"And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst." (John 6:35)

_______________________________________________________________________

This morning I was thinking about choice between two situations. It’s hypothetical and psychological but it’s also spiritual and a reality of each soul.

Situation #1 You have money and freedom. You may do what you want and go where you want. Money is not an issue so you truly can enjoy what you want when you want it. Go to Paris today? If you feel like it. You are educated, repected, and revered… but you have no joy.

Situation #2 Your home is a dark prison cell. You eat what’s thrown on the floor and you do everything else on that same floor. You may not leave and you have no rights. Your starving, beaten and mocked daily. You are thought a fool, hated, and honored by none on this earth… but you have joy.

God says the he chooses the foolish things to confound the wise (1 Corinthians 1:27; Job 5:13). Jesus’ message came was and is a stumbling block to the Jews (man/flesh and physical) and foolishness to the Greeks (world/wisdom and mental) (1 Corinthians 1:22-23).

The message of Jesus and the cross is indeed foolishness to the world. (1 Corinthians 1:18)

"To the Jews a stumbling block"

The Jewish people were God’s chosen people and are a nation set apart by God’s calling but the jewish man doesn’t represent a nation of people but the nature of mankind its flesh. Jesus was a stumbling block because His words, actions and apparent outcome was completely opposed to to the nature of man. The Jews and mankind alike want power, rule, wealth, to be served and honored. Mankind wants what he wants and he wants it now. He inwardly and thus outwardly wants the world to revolve around him and to feed his wants. Who is anyone else to tell me how I should live my life? (Romans 1&2)

Jesus said in word and action to sell everything (Luke 18:22), hate your life (John 12:25), die to self (Luke 9:24), be cursed in the worlds eyes (Luke 9:23; Galatians 3:13), serve all (Mark 9:35), love unconditionally (Luke 6:28; 1 Corinthians 13), be of no reputation (Philippians 2:7), be poor, hungry, hated, excluded, reviled, and weeping (Luke 6:20-22).

You see, Jesus is a physical stumbling block because He wants nothing that man wants. He only wants God’s glory and man only wants man’s glory. The cross is an offense to man because man doesn’t want a God humilated on a cross. Man wants a god who will come of the cross and save himself. The cross and only the cross of Jesus Christ reveals that for a man to live he must die. He must face the cross and the humilation of God. Only this will cut to man’s heart to reveal he has been and always will be about saving himself. He must go with Jesus in identification to the cross and die to have everlasting life.

He’d never eat the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil if he truly believed the consequences but he desires power and the things of the flesh so much that he wants the fruit and he wants it now. He must have want he doesn’t have for his flesh.

"To the Greeks foolishness"

It could be said that the Jew represents man’s flesh and its avoidance of truth because its hatred of the cost but to the Greek the cross is utter foolishness. To the Greek man full of the wisdom of man the foolishness of the cross is just ignorance. He counts faith a fool and says that though a man of faith may be joyful he’d rather be full of hate and misery than be a fool. He recognizes joy but it is more important for his to be wise before man. He wants to have everything figured out and he hates, mocks and scorns the idea of avoiding arguement because he loves to argue the high things of his mind. He is truly “always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (2 Timothy 3:8) He resist the truth and he hates the truth because it is simple and makes his wisdom foolishness. Faith is foolishness because it cannot be proved to the mind. He thinks he knows good but he counts it foolish to not have the knowledge of good and evil so he sits in darkness knowing only evil.

He’d eat the fruit even knowing the consequence because he must have the knowledge of good and evil. He’s rather suffers the consequences than be counted a fool. He must have what he doesn’t have for his mind.

Food Which Endures to Eternal Life

Jesus says “Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him…I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” (John 6:27, 6:35)

"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that [He] speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63) Jesus [says to you], “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6)” Truth says that you will have eternal life in Him. Truth says that you will never hunger or thirst again. Truth says He is He is your shepherd and you will not have want is you have Him (Psalm 23).

The liar points out that you don’t get the food the perishes. He points out that you can’t have all the things that never satisfy your soul but he points out that YOU CAN’T HAVE and that is all the natural man’s flesh and mind can hear. The enemy says it so loud that you don’t hear the voice of Truth. You have fogetten so quickly. So it must be said again…

The Word of God says “the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (1 Corinthians 2:14) ” You may have read opening situations and you may have read the word of God but you may not have heard. You may not have received.

Hear spiritually. Listen to the voice of truth. “THIS IS ETERNAL LIFE, THAT YOU MAY KNOW GOD, THE ONLY TRUE GOD, and JESUS CHRIST WHOM GOD HAS SENT. (John 17:3)” Eternal life is not even a flesh things but Truth that you enter into when you know HIM!

You see, in the first situation of choice has all the things of the world but it doesn’t have the only thing that matters. It has no joy. All of the things mean nothing if they won’t satisfy and truly THEY WON’T SATISFY. there is no joy… only death.

The second sitaution has nothing to gratify your flesh but it has the only thing that matters. JOY! Life and life abundantly (John 10:10). Peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). ETERNAL LIFE!

Believer, don’t look to the things He has redeemed you from. They didn’t satisfy you then and they won’t now. The things of this world are not the things of God. There is no life in them. Christ alone gives you life yesterday, today and forever.

Sinner,
“Awake, you who sleep,
Arise from the dead,
And Christ will give you light. (Ephesians 5:14)”

God says to you in His Word

 “Ho! Everyone who thirsts,
Come to the waters;

And you who have no money,

Come, buy and eat.
Yes, come, buy wine and milk
Without money and without price.

Why do you spend money for what is not bread,
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,
And let your soul delight itself in abundance.
Incline your ear, and come to Me.
Hear, and your soul shall live;

And I will make an everlasting covenant with you—
The sure mercies of David.
Indeed I have given him as a witness to the people,
A leader and commander for the people.
Surely you shall call a nation you do not know,
And nations who do not know you shall run to you,
Because of the Lord your God,
And the Holy One of Israel; For He has glorified you.”

Seek the Lord while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near.
Let the wicked forsake his way,
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
Let him return to the Lord,
And He will have mercy on him;
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.

“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

“For you shall go out with joy,
And be led out with peace;
The mountains and the hills
Shall break forth into singing before you,

And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress tree,
And instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree;
And it shall be to the Lord for a name,
For an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off. (Isaiah 55)”

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30)”

"For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5)”

"Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you. (Jeremiah 31:3)”

"But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), (Ephesians 2:4-5)"

Love of Christ,

Thomas

"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18)"

"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)”

"You have ravished my heart,
My sister, my spouse;
You have ravished my heart
With one look of your eyes,
With one link of your necklace.

How fair is your love,
My sister, my spouse!
How much better than wine is your love,
And the scent of your perfumes
Than all spices!

Your lips, O my spouse,
Drip as the honeycomb;
Honey and milk are under your tongue;
And the fragrance of your garments
Is
 like the fragrance of Lebanon. (Song of Solomon 4:9-11)”
